In this Loom & Leaf vs. Casper comparison, we will evaluate two memory foam beds side by side to see what advantages each can offer for different kinds of sleepers.
Will you pick the Loom & Leaf, a luxurious memory bed from Saatva that’s built with a percentage of bio-based foams? Or perhaps you’ll be drawn to the highly versatile and innovative Casper Original mattress, from a breakout brand that’s been regularly updating their flagship model since its inception.
With both offering a medium firmness, cooling features, and great motion isolation, we’ll walk you through the differences in each of these all-foam beds, to help you make the best decision.

100 nightsWho I’d Recommend the Loom & Leaf For
- Average to heavyweight sleepers – While lighter sleepers may not be heavy enough to activate this mattress’s layers, we think average to heavyweight sleepers will likely find a great balance of support and pressure relief in all positions.
- Eco-conscious shoppers – Saatva substitutes 30 percent of the polyurethane in the foams of the Loom & Leaf with renewable, naturally-derived soybean and corn oils. The brand also says that the manufacturing of these foams produces less greenhouse gasses than traditional poly foam. Plus, the bed is treated with a botanical antimicrobial treatment and uses a natural flame retardant. So, while this can’t be classed as an organic mattress, it’s more environmentally friendly than the Casper.
- People who want affordable luxury – While the Loom & Leaf is more expensive than the Casper, it does offer a high-quality, premium product for a very reasonable price. If you have the means to spend a little more, you could be sleeping on this mattress for years to come.
Who I’d Recommend the Casper For
- Light to average-weight sleepers – We think light to average-weight sleepers may fare well on this bed as they are likely to experience a fantastic mix of support and pressure relief. However, some lightweight sleepers may prefer a softer bed. Heavier sleepers will likely need a firmer mattress to keep their spine in alignment.
- Budget shoppers – The Casper is cheaper than the Loom & Leaf, which may appeal to customers who have a little less to spend but don’t want to greatly compromise on quality. With its zoned support, comfortable pressure relief, and cooling features, we think this bed offers great value.
- Canadian shoppers – This bed ships for free across most of Canada, while Saatva ceased delivering to Canada during the pandemic and is yet to resume.
Comparing Loom & Leaf vs. Casper: Top Similarities
- Motion isolation – Both these beds offer fantastic motion isolation, which is typical of all-foam beds. This means you shouldn’t feel disturbed by a restless partner or pet wriggling around in the night.
- Sinkage – We experienced a gentle cradle on both mattresses, sleeping more on top of the beds than in them. This gave us great contouring, support, and pressure relief, but those after that ‘deep hug’ feel may prefer a more traditional memory foam bed.
- Firmness – Both the Loom & Leaf and Casper came in at a 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale, making them medium-firm. While the firmness feel is the same, the support offered is different – average to heavyweight sleepers may do better on the Loom & Leaf while light to average-weight sleepers will likely prefer the Casper.
Comparing Loom & Leaf vs. Casper: Key Differences
- Edge support – The Loom & Leaf is delivered full-size, which means there’s an advantage for edge support because easily compressible materials aren’t used. While the Loom & Leaf certainly has better edge support than its competitor, the Casper still performed above average in this category. We felt secure when lying near the perimeter but did experience some compression when sitting on the edge.
- Bounce – The Loom & Leaf offers very little by way of bounce while the Casper does have some bounce thanks to its rapidly responsive layer of comfort foam. However, due to their low level of sinkage, we don’t think you should have a problem repositioning on either bed.
- Delivery – The Loom & Leaf is delivered full-size and set up for you, and your old mattress can be taken away. This service is free. The Casper offers complimentary bed-in-a-box delivery to your door, though this does mean you have to take the bed to your bedroom yourself.
Comparing Firmness, Support & Feel
Firmness
We rate mattress firmness on a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being the firmest. Both the Loom & Leaf Relaxed Firm and Casper Original ranked at a 6 out of 10, placing them in the medium-firm category. This is a very popular comfort level because it works well for a lot of different body types and sleep position preferences. The Loom & Leaf is also available in a Firm model, which we scored at 7.5, making it firm.
Support
Despite similar firmness levels, the slower-responding plush top of the Loom & Leaf offers a slightly different experience to the quicker bounce-back rate of the Casper. The Relaxed Firm option should work well for average to heavyweight sleepers, though stomach sleepers with substantially heavier cores may prefer the Firm version.
Casper’s universal support system was designed with versatility in mind, though we think it suits light to average-weight sleepers best. Despite the Zoned Support™ system, we don’t think heavier sleepers will find the support they need.
Feel
The Loom & Leaf is delivered full-size, and we were immediately impressed by the soft organic cover. The top memory foam layers offer a soft yet supportive feel that provides gentle contouring.
With the Casper, we experienced immediate gentle sinkage with a fast response time, meaning that the foams regained their shape quickly. The cover feels soft and cool to the touch. “The Casper Original always feels comfortable, and I know my kids love it too,” noted Emma, a Sleep Advisor mattress tester.
Comparing Sinkage and Bounce
Our team experienced a gentle cradle on both mattresses, although the consensus was that the Loom & Leaf had a slightly deeper cradle than the Casper. The Loom & Leaf’s cover keeps your body from sinking too deeply into the memory materials, while the Casper’s ergonomic support foam keeps you lifted. “You feel a sense of pressure relief and a gentle memory foam hug, ” Emma said about the Casper.
Casper’s surface has a bit more bounce than the Loom & Leaf, which can help ease repositioning, though neither bed typically requires effort in this area due to cushioning depth.

Comparing Motion Transfer
Those who share their bed with a partner, child, or pet will likely prefer a bed with good motion isolation. This is a feature that can prevent movement from traveling from one side of the bed to the other.
Both choices perform exceptionally well here due to their all-foam constructions that include thick layers of memory foam that help to absorb reverberations that may cause a disturbance. Motion transfer should not be an issue for light sleepers on either mattress. “I’m a big fan of the way this mattress minimizes motion transfer,” our reviewer, Emma, reported about the Casper.
Comparing Cooling
Both beds have cooling features to help combat the heat retention of memory foam. The Loom & Leaf promotes cooling with its breathable organic cover, as well as its gel-infused and breathable memory foams. The Casper’s cover feels cool to the touch, while its breathable AirScape™ poly foam allows for airflow.
These two mattresses also position their denser layers of slower-responding memory foam away from the sleeper’s body to help keep the surface temperature regulated. Plus, both mattresses keep you more on top of the mattress, which exposes your body to more circulating air.
Although most sleepers should find these mattresses temperature-neutral, exceptionally sweaty sleepers may prefer a dedicated cooling mattress.
