Please remember that firmness is a subjective characteristic and your shape will dictate how you experience a bed. A heavier person whose weight can more easily push through softer comfort and support layers may experience a bed as softer than a lightweight person. Typically we rate the firmness using our 1 to 10 firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest. However, the ReST bed is a special circumstance since sleepers are free to adjust the firmness of the mattress. We rate the Automatic Adjust mode a 6 out of 10 on our scale since this is the automatic setting for the bed.

How Does It Feel?
Laying on this product should be a unique experience for most sleepers. The top foam contours your shape and it feels like a fairly cool mattress when laying on the surface. As you settle in, you should feel the mattress adjust its firmness.
The soft memory foam on top slowly contours to your shape. If you push down deep enough you should find some firmness that responds more quickly, allowing you to easily adjust your sleeping position.
What We Like About the ReST
- Adjustable firmness – This mattress supports three modes: Manual Mode, Auto Position, and Automatic Mode. These allow users to customize their side of the bed or let the mattress do it for them.

Our ReST Complaints
- You may feel stuck – The memory foam in this bed may make you feel a bit stuck inside the mattress, especially when you try to switch positions.
- Not supportive enough for stomach sleepers – Exclusive stomach sleepers may prefer a more supportive bed. Although the ReST has different firmness options, the memory foam in this mattress has a slower response to pressure and can be uncomfortable for stomach sleeping.
Testing the ReST Mattress: How it Performed
Testing this mattress was a unique experience as it comes with a Samsung Galaxy tablet. We tested the mattress in various positions, using all its technologies and features to find the best setting for each position.

The bed has a weight limit of 750 pounds per side, so this should work nicely for most individuals. However, you should still be careful when it comes to firmness and feel because not all beds with a high weight limit are comfortable for heavy people.

Construction: What’s Inside the ReST?
At 13 inches tall, the reST contains four layers in total. Starting the mattress off is the Sleep Skin cover, which is a moisture-wicking fabric made from polyethylene polyester and a polyurethane spandex blend. This material is not only extremely breathable, but also comes with a zipper along the perimeter for easy removal.
Underneath the cover is an elastic and breathable sensor that tracks nearly 2,000 pressure points. This is an extremely durable yet soft, warp-knit nylon-polyester blend.
- The comfort layer is a 4-inch memory foam infused with cooling gel. This layer influences temperature regulation near your body, so it can immediately wash away heat that enters the mattress. This foam should also relieve pressure and provide comfort by contouring your individual anatomy.
- The transition layer is a 1-inch transition foam that eases the body’s weight into the air chambers below. This foam should ensure that weight is evenly distributed and provides mid-level support to introduce your pressure areas into the layer below.
- The support layer is the 5.5-inch dynamic air support system. The sensor communicates to the pumps to fill the polyurethane air chambers in this layer to adjust the five firmness zones in the mattress. These have been welded shut so no air should escape, allowing these zones to adjust independently so you can sleep on your preferred levels of firmness.
- The base is a thicker foam that provides a platform for the mattress. It protects the air chamber layer from getting damaged by the bed frame and vice versa.
Unboxing & Off-Gassing
We’re happy to report that this mattress comes with White Glove Delivery. A two-man team shows up at your home and places ReST on your frame of choice. Inside the packaging are the pumps and cords needed for additional assembly.
This product is compatible with any adjustable base, box spring, or frame. However, it’s important to remember you will need space under the bed to store the pumps and have open access to the accessory cords and air tubes. You may also notice some off-gassing since this mattress contains memory foam, though this should dissipate within a few hours, but make sure to leave the mattress to vent in a well-ventilated room.

After testing all the perks of this mattress, we think it’s a match for most sleepers, although heavyweight sleepers are probably better off with a firmer mattress. Couples, average-weight sleepers, and lightweight people should like this bed’s firmness range.
